POSITION SCOPE:

Under direct supervision, reports to a designated supervisor of a team, or organization. Responsible for specific assignments involving conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures and equipment, and operating problems with relatively few complex features. Employing established techniques and usually following precedents, performs such assignments as preparing proposals and cost estimates for new business inquires, designing underground and overhead electrical circuits for the installation of new outdoor lighting equipment, and reviewing existing outdoor lighting circuits and equipment to improve reliability.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Advises INDOT, DPW and private customers on outdoor lighting options available from IPL, and counsels customers regarding Company technical and commercial policies in both oral and written communications

● Performs technical investigations, cost estimates, computations, inspections, inventories and reports as may be required for the completion of assignments

● Acts as coordinator between the customer and field crews on projects which involve conventional types of plans, such as the design and construction of overhead and underground secondary circuits to new or existing lighting facilities

● Assists office personnel with the with the creation and maintenance of billing records

● Assists higher classified personnel as assigned

● Keeps informed on the latest developments and techniques pertaining to the science of outdoor lighting from both internal and external sources.

● Consults with the supervisor or higher classified personnel on the more difficult problems arising in the work and advising of unusual situations

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

● Associates degree in a technical engineering field or a Bachelor of Science from an accredited college/university

PREFERRED SKILLS:

● Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Suite

● Strong oral and written communication skills

● Demonstrated ability to work optimally and cooperatively with others as well as operate with a minimum of supervision
