About this Role

SUMMARY

The responsibilities of the Senior Accountant, Long-Lived Assets include the preparation and analysis of consolidated financial reports and disclosures for fixed assets, intangibles, goodwill and operating and finance leases. Responsibilities also include valuation and determination of useful lives of fixed assets acquired through business combinations; the processing of fixed asset transfers between operating units; and the analysis and consolidation of lease data. The Senior Accountant is involved in the development and maintenance of processes, guidelines and policy related to ASC 350, Intangibles-Goodwill and Other; ASC 360, PPE; ASC 842, Leases and other relevant accounting guidance. The Senior Accountant also assists with research projects for various technical accounting issues. The position requires interaction with various groups within the corporate offices (i.e. External Reporting, Divisional Accounting, Mergers & Acquisitions, Treasury, Tax, Financial Planning & Analysis, Legal, etc.), as well as domestic and international operating units’ accounting personnel.

What You'll Do

ESSENTIAL/ NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs monthly consolidated fixed asset and intangible roll forward and reconciliation review procedures within HFM and JD Edwards. Investigates and resolves reconciling items with operating units.

  • Assists in the accounting and preparation of all supporting schedules and documentation for fixed assets acquired through business combinations including the preparation of detailed valuation analysis and/or review of valuation work papers provided by third party specialists. Requires an understanding of ASC 805, Business Combinations.

  • Performs the monthly lease accounting process and compilation of all Quanta’s equipment, real estate and operating unit leases in Quanta’s lease software application (“Visual Lease”).

  • Responsible for reviewing lease classification and maintaining documentation on lease accounting assumptions in accordance with ASC 842, Leases, and responsible for understanding the accounting implications of the Company’s lease transactions to ensure proper lease data collection and calculations in the Visual Lease system and accurate disclosure in SEC filings.

  • Supports and educates operating units and other corporate departments with technical accounting matters, specifically as related to PPE and lease accounting.

  • Assists in the preparation of disclosures for fixed assets, goodwill, intangibles and leases as well as maintains all supporting work papers for associated amounts included in SEC Form 10-Q and 10-K filings.

  • Assists with the drafting, development and maintenance of processes, guidelines and policy related ASC 350, Intangibles-Goodwill and Other; ASC 360, PPE; ASC 842, Leases and other relevant accounting guidance and assists with research into related technical matters.

  • Assists in the preparation and documentation of valuation methods and critical inputs related to ASC 805, Business Combinations, specifically as related to PPE and leases.

  • Prepares JD Edwards system/sub ledger integration files for fixed asset and intangible balances of newly acquired companies.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for the JD Edwards asset system/sub ledger, Hubble, and the Visual Lease application for lease accounting.

  • Prepares forecast depreciation and amortization reports for operating unit Controllers and the Financial Planning and Analysis team.

  • Assists team with quarterly and annual fixed and intangible asset triggering event impairment analysis.

  • Processes wire transfers and journal entries associated with operating unit fixed asset transfers.

  • Processes intercompany out-of-balances created by asset transfer wire transfers.

  • Evaluates existing processes for efficiencies and control deficiencies.

  • Assists internal and external auditors.

  • Performs internal controls for areas of responsibility.

  • Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.

  • Performs other duties as assigned, particularly related to consolidated financial reporting.

What You'll Bring

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting and minimum of 3 years public accounting experience (or minimum 3-4 years mixed public accounting and relevant industry experience will be considered).

  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP accounting requirements and Sarbanes Oxley control requirements.
